About
Eric Marcotulli co-founded Elysium Health in 2014 with Dan Alminana and MIT biologist Leonard Guarente, PhD. Before Elysium, he worked as an investment partner at Sequoia Capital, an associate at Bain Capital Ventures, and in business development at Rapid7. He holds a BA from Princeton and an MBA from Harvard Business School. His role is the company-building side of Elysium: turning aging-biology partnerships into consumer products such as Basis and Index.
What to Know
Signature approach
Marcotulli's Elysium role is operating, capital, and consumer go-to-market. The company model pairs business leadership with academic aging scientists: Guarente anchors the sirtuin/NAD+ foundation, Index adds a Yale-linked methylation methodology, and Marcotulli's job is to package that science into consumer products and a durable brand.
What sets them apart
- Investor-to-founder route. Sequoia and Bain Capital Ventures gave him a venture-building lens before Elysium.
- Academic-science pairing. Elysium was co-founded with Leonard Guarente, PhD and built around scientific advisors instead of celebrity branding alone.
- Consumer-health focus. His role is translating research partnerships into products users can buy, repeat, and understand.
- Long founder tenure. He has led Elysium from the 2014 founding through the Basis supplement line and Index testing launch.
