About
Function Health Annual Membership is the core lab product: 160+ biomarkers across 26 categories, drawn at Quest Diagnostics and split across two testing windows each year. The Annual Test builds the broad baseline, the Mid-Year Test checks key markers again, and the app keeps prior results visible over time. A Function clinician writes the summary after results complete, turning a large panel into a more usable review for follow-up care.
A Function clinician reviews the completed panel and writes a personalized summary that explains flagged markers, puts results in context, and pairs them with food, supplement, and lifestyle guidance. The summary appears in the Function app after the full panel is complete. If a result is critical, a healthcare provider calls right away.
What to Know
Signature approach
The membership is designed for movement over time. A first draw establishes the baseline, the second draw checks what changed, and individual markers can be retested between cycles. The dashboard gives the pattern view; the clinician-written summary gives the plain-language interpretation that a user can bring into a primary-care or specialist conversation.
What sets it apart
- Broad included panel. Advanced lipids, thyroid antibodies, hormones, nutrients, inflammation, autoimmunity, and environmental-toxin markers are included in the core membership.
- Quest-based collection. Function uses the same lab infrastructure that processes medical orders, which helps with sample quality and national access.
- Interpretation included. The clinician-written summary ships with the membership instead of requiring a separate consult purchase.
Before You Order
- Bring results into care. Plan to review flagged markers with a clinician who knows your history, especially before changing medication or treatment plans.
- Plan for the timing. The draw is short, but the full report can take several weeks after lab processing and clinician review.
- Confirm renewal terms. Function frames the current price as a first-year membership rate.
- Prepare for the draw. Fast for 8 hours, and choose morning collection when hormones or cortisol matter.

MRI and CT imaging are separate purchases through Function's Ezra imaging product. Specialty panels such as GRAIL multi-cancer detection, extended hormone, extended heart and metabolic, extended thyroid, mold reactivity, ApoE Alzheimer's risk, sexual health, and additional environmental toxins also cost extra. On-demand single-biomarker retests sit outside the included twice-yearly cadence. Function provides testing and interpretation support, while diagnosis and treatment stay with your own clinician.
Reference ranges methodology
Function pairs Quest lab values with an interpretation layer informed by peer-reviewed research and its medical and scientific advisory board. Use the app guidance as a structured explanation of patterns, flags, and next steps to discuss with your own clinician.

- What the base price covers: $365/yr includes the Annual Test, Mid-Year Test, Quest draw, clinician-written summary, and app tracking. There is no separate draw-site fee or review fee.
- What raises the total: specialty panels and on-demand single-biomarker retests carry member-only pricing after sign-in. MRI and CT imaging is a separate Function product.
- Payment posture: HSA/FSA eligible; NY and NJ add a state-regulation surcharge. Confirm renewal terms because the current price is framed as a first-year membership rate.
How it works
- 1
Schedule the draw
Pick from 2,000+ Quest Diagnostics locations and complete the visit in roughly 15 minutes after an 8-hour fast. No insurance needed; HSA/FSA accepted.
- 2
Review your results
Some markers post within days; the full panel usually completes in 3-4 weeks. A clinician then writes a personalized summary 1-2 weeks later, with food and supplement guidance tied to your readings.
- 3
Retest mid-year
Six months in, the Mid-Year Test retests 60+ markers to catch movement. Add any out-of-range biomarker on demand for an additional retest at member pricing.
- 4
Track over time
Each panel reads against your prior baseline so changes in hormones, lipids, and nutrients surface as trends over time.

Frequently asked questions
How often do I test with Function?
Twice a year. The membership covers a spring Annual Test (100+ markers) and a Mid-Year Test (60+ markers). You can also retest any individual biomarker on demand at member-only pricing.
How accurate are the tests?
All panels run through Quest Diagnostics, the same medical-grade infrastructure that processes hospital lab orders. Function refuses at-home kits on sample-integrity grounds.
Do I need to fast?
Yes. Fast for 8 hours before the draw. Mornings are recommended for the most accurate hormone and cortisol readings. Stay hydrated.
What are add-on tests?
Specialty panels that go beyond the base 160+, including GRAIL multi-cancer detection, extended hormone, extended thyroid, mold reactivity, and others. Member-only pricing surfaces after sign-in. MRI and CT scans are sold as a separate Function product.
