Holistic health and wellness club

El Segundo wellness club combining functional medicine, fitness, recovery, spa, plant-forward food, pickleball, and telehealth

About

Love.Life is a membership-based health and wellness club in El Segundo, California, founded by Whole Foods Market leaders John Mackey, Walter Robb, and Betsy Foster. Its 45,000 sq ft flagship brings functional medicine, primary care, advanced testing, fitness, recovery, spa, a plant-forward cafe, and indoor pickleball into one physical experience. The clinical side is led by Jaclyn Tolentino, DO, with a multidisciplinary team covering nursing, dietetics, physical therapy, behavioral health, acupuncture, TCM, coaching, fitness, and nutrition science. A separate Love.Life Telehealth line grew out of the 2023 Plant Based TeleHealth acquisition and extends plant-based lifestyle medicine beyond Southern California.

What to Know

Signature approach

Love.Life is built as an integrated club rather than a clinic with add-ons. Members can move from physician visits and lab review to training, recovery, nutrition, behavioral health, acupuncture, cafe meals, and community programming in the same place. It is built for people who want health optimization to become a routine environment, not a set of isolated appointments.

What sets them apart

  • Whole Foods lineage. Mackey, Robb, and Foster bring the food-as-health thesis from Whole Foods into a care model built around plant-forward nutrition and lifestyle change.
  • One-roof design. Functional medicine, fitness, recovery, spa, cafe, and pickleball live inside the same 45,000 sq ft club.
  • Real multidisciplinary team. Love.Life has medical, nutrition, physical therapy, behavioral health, eastern medicine, coaching, and fitness roles under the same membership experience.
  • Telehealth extension. The Plant Based TeleHealth acquisition gives the brand a national lifestyle-medicine thread beyond the El Segundo flagship.

Before You Book

  • Clarify the tier before joining. Gold and Platinum are the medical-membership tiers; Silver and Fitness+Recovery are more lifestyle-club oriented.
  • Read the agreement. Membership is contract-based, with cancellation terms and service boundaries.
  • Keep separate insurance coverage. Love.Life is not emergency care, hospital coverage, specialist care, or a replacement for health insurance.
  • Know what routes out. Imaging beyond DEXA, specialty procedures, emergency care, stem cell therapy, psychedelic therapy, and invasive dermatology are outside the core membership.
  • Location matters. The full club experience is El Segundo only; virtual care is a separate path.

Care model

Ongoing Membership

Insurance: Self Pay · HSA/FSA: Partial

HSA/FSA may apply to eligible medical components when billed with proper documentation. Fitness, recovery, spa, cafe, and pickleball access should be treated as non-eligible lifestyle spend unless member services and the plan administrator confirm otherwise.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Love.Life membership cost?

Love.Life names four tiers: Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Fitness+Recovery. Current dollar amounts should be confirmed through a discovery call, tour, app, or member-services flow. Gold and Platinum are the tiers to focus on if you want functional medicine, labs, diagnostics, and care-team access.

Does Love.Life accept insurance?

Love.Life does not bill insurance directly. Members can receive superbills for eligible medical components and submit them for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Keep separate health insurance for emergency, hospital, specialist, and outside medical care.

Can I use HSA or FSA funds at Love.Life?

Partially. Eligible medical visits, labs, and diagnostics may qualify when documented correctly. Fitness, recovery, spa, cafe, and pickleball access should not be assumed eligible.

What conditions does Love.Life focus on?

The care model focuses on prevention, metabolic health, hormones, digestive issues, blood sugar, sleep, stress, cardiovascular risk, autoimmune and inflammatory conditions, skin concerns, cognitive health, weight management, and general optimization.

What care falls outside Love.Life membership?

Love.Life refers out for emergency care, hospital care, most specialist procedures, imaging beyond DEXA, invasive dermatology, stem cells, psychedelic-guided therapy, and care that requires a specialty clinic or hospital setting.

Does Love.Life require a contract?

Yes. Membership is governed by a written agreement covering services, fees, and cancellation terms. Review the agreement with member services before signing.

What is the minimum age for membership?

Love.Life lists membership for ages 13 and older. Members under 18 require parent or guardian consent.

Can Love.Life be my primary care provider?

For members, Love.Life can function as a primary-care home with longer visits, labs, screening, coaching, and care-team follow-up. Some patients will still keep an outside PCP or specialists, especially for insurance-based care.

Does Love.Life offer telehealth?

Yes. Members can use virtual visits where appropriate, and Love.Life Telehealth extends plant-based lifestyle medicine beyond the El Segundo club. Availability, provider choice, and pricing should be confirmed in the current booking flow.

Where is Love.Life located?

The physical flagship is at 740 S. Pacific Coast Highway in El Segundo, inside Plaza El Segundo. The full club experience is only at this location.
