Neko Health, the preventive-scanning startup co-founded by Spotify's Daniel Ek, just raised a $700 million round to bring its full-body scan to the US, one of the year's largest health raises. One visit, about an hour and roughly the price of a nice dinner out, captures thousands of data points across your heart, skin, and blood, then a doctor walks you through what they mean, the pitch being to catch trouble years before symptoms.
Worth staying clear-eyed: this is a big commercial bet on prevention, not proof that routine scanning makes people healthier, and whether early scans catch real problems or just harmless blips is still an open question. The weight-loss shot is quietly becoming a pill
The biggest shift in GLP-1s right now isn't a new drug, it's how you'll take it. This week the Wall Street Journal reported that Novo Nordisk's daily weight-loss pill is pulling ahead of Eli Lilly's rival oral, a real milestone in the race to free patients from weekly injections, aimed at the millions who'd take a pill but balk at a needle.
And the needle's days may be numbered entirely. Vivani Medical is developing a tiny under-the-skin implant that releases semaglutide for six months at a time, and just signed an evaluation deal with Novo. That one is still early, preclinical with a first human trial only planned, so treat it as a preview, not a product. The throughline: the hard part of these drugs was never just the science, it was staying on them, and the next wave is aimed squarely at that.
